Sudan Has A War, Did You Know?

No first world borders, no attention.

Whenever I notice Sudan, it’s because something awful is happening there. First it was Darfur and the Janjaweed militias, then South Sudan freed themselves from the north, in a river of blood. Now two warlords who overthrew the legitimate government are tearing at each other, with outside support from Egypt, the UAE, and Iran.

The Janjaweed have always been ghastly, every nasty thing you’ve ever heard about Nazis, Imperial Japan, Serbs, or Assad forces, they’ve probably done worse. There are a lot of things about this conflict that sound like Hutus vs. Tutsis in Rwanda.

Dialing back to low Earth orbit … the peak value of human life is in the rear view mirror. These lands are going back to their solar max and there will be far fewer people when that process is complete.
