This has been a hard month. My iPhone has been mysteriously going dark at the worst possible moments since back in April. The new laptop transmorgified into the Scraptop. And then my trusty daily driver HP Z420 computed its last. The spare Z420 swung into action with only an hour or so of lost work but my mobile “solution”, a 2014 vintage MacAir, has always been a flaky oddball kept for the sake of supporting Mac users. Deprived of wall power, it’ll fail to start about 50% of the time. I keep meaning to spend the $25 for a replacement battery, but then I remember it’s a ten year old piece of gear and I never go anywhere anyway.
But it seems my physical equipment punishment is over. Someone rooted around in a closet and came up with not one but TWO loose Apple silicon laptops from 2020.
Both machines are reported to have the minimum 8GB of memory and the Air is indeed the prized pink color. They should be here in the first couple days of June.
I’m taking this as a positive sign for the summer …
