Better to be ready and not need it, than to need it and have neither a clue nor the time to make arrangements. NATO is vastly superior to Russia in terms of technology, but the manufacturing needed is NOT NOT NOT ready. Owning the best 155mm mobile howitzer, the mighty K9 Thunder, is all well and good. But if you run out of ammunition after a long weekend, it’s just a very expensive offroad vehicle.
And next it would be great if we can see a battalion sized unit of the M10 Booker for each NATO member on the eastern flank. Their bridges are built for the forty ton T-72 and won’t typically support western MBTs like the Abrams and Leopard 2. Given how well the smaller first generation Leopard 1 and M2 Bradley have done in the assault gun role, as well as the heavily modified Slovenian M-55S, these would be just the thing to roll out the unwelcome mat when Russia comes sneaking.
