It's all but impossible to score an outright "kill" on an online target. You can maybe manage a mission kill if you can attribute them in the process, but that's about it. So much of what goes on is meant to sow confusion and hinder action. You get seasoned, it's easier to shrug off stuff, you go a little bit more and you can recognize "important, but intractable", and just leave it alone.
Ensuring that you and any of your charges have a list of things they can do during times of uncertainty is a great help. There are occasional days where I sit down and nobody tossed any cybergrenades at me while I was asleep. It's a bit startling when it happens ... but then I remember my preventative maintenance queue :-)
