All Enemies, Foreign and Domestic, Especially Roger Stone

Let’s talk about infamous traitor Roger Stone, who is again in the news.

Some of you might have missed this, or you’re just starting to come unzipped from the MAGA cult and still getting oriented, so let’s review.

Roger Stone coordinated with Wikileaks in the summer and fall of 2016 on an information operation that involved leaking material Russian intel obtained by hacking. The intrusion victims were the Democratic National Committee and John Podesta. This resulted in the placement of a Kremlin agent, Donald Trump, in the Oval Office. Less appreciated is that PizzaGate, a thinly disguised reboot of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, grew from a delusional, conspiratorial reading of John Podesta’s email. As of today Qanon has swamped evangelical churches, they’ve taken over multiple Republican state parties, and their rhetoric is eerily akin to that of ISIS. The U.S. is facing the sort of conditions that might lead to civil war and if that does happen the Q faithful will be the fanatics to set it in motion.

That being said, I have some material on Roger Stone that looks to be more than enough to set a counter intelligence investigation in motion. I shared it with the FBI the day after the Capitol Siege but given the combination of DOJ corruption and the extraordinary investigation dumped on them the day before I have little confidence it was actually investigated. I’ve pitched it to half a dozen reporters, but it’s got some complex, esoteric inference in it, the sort of things described in Attribution of Advanced Persistent Threats by Timo Steffens. So this remains an obscure, but perhaps very important bit of evidence.

Summary:

Roger Stone was involved in the operation of an overt social media botnet in conjunction with PERSON #1, who was interviewed by the Mueller grand jury on June 1st, 2018. Stone and PERSON #1 parted ways and it appears that PERSON #2 took over some project management duties for the botnet. He is an overt Stone associate, his name and other identifying information show he was responsible for infrastructure, and that PII is entangled with other things that look like they’d be of interest to federal investigators in the context of the Capitol Siege. PERSON #3 has technical skills in the area of mobile development. His PII is entangled with the botnet’s infrastructure as well, and during the time he worked for COMPANY #1, which received a record setting fine from Canadian authorities for placing malware on phones in the context of advertising. When the botnet reached its end of life its DNS and other information shows that it was entangled with a Bitcoin mining operation in a member state of the former Soviet Union. This last thing is relevant as there are two other instances where I have encountered subversion of mobile devices in conjunction with U.S. domestic politics and Russian infrastructure.

What I am looking for here is a journalist, or perhaps one of the OSINT shops like Bellingcat or Logically, who can deal with the ambiguity, the very technical nature, and the inferences I made along the way. I want to see some public attention on this so we are sure that it gets the review it deserves. Everything I used to do this was open source and I plan on making all of that public once the story is published, in hopes that others might have pieces I missed.
