So this is China Update, which just happens to be all about China.
The analyst/presenter, Tony, reads the financial, technology, and geopolitical news, then produces five to fifteen minute videos that tie it all together. There are typically two or three separate vignettes in each video and he maintains context over time by mentioning past issues. There are never any links to prior videos or other sources. Within the video he does clearly mention the multiple sources he’s consulted when he synthesizes a summary of what’s happening in a specific event.
Overall this is a very good source. If he’s taking feedback I would like to see URLs for the sources he’s consulted, but he’s a professional in the field and I think the good stuff might be paywalled. You can follow him on Twitter at @tonychinaupdate.
If you’ve just noticed this the other two sources I like are Peter Zeihan and Asianometry. My overall goal is getting a similar level of understanding on geopolitical issues without wading through all the reading/writing as I did ten years ago for food/water security on the nealrauhauser Wordpress site. My focus then happened to converge on the Muslim world, just by the nature of the lands that were once part of the Ottoman empire, now the big issue is going to be what’s happening to China as globalization begins to fray.
